The Mar Menor is one of the most popular courses in Murcia and it’s easy to see why. The course is usually in perfect condition and is suitable for all level of golfers. This doesn’t mean the Mar Menor is an easy course but it’s very fair. Good shots are usually rewarded and bad shots punished.

Most golfers who’ve played the course agree that it’s in pristine condition. The fairways are lush and a pleasure to play from and the greens are subtly borrowed, reasonably pacey and run perfectly true. The EuroPro Tour Championship was held at the Mar Menor in October 2011 and the pro’s paid the course massive compliments.

Stand out holes include the par 4, 450 yard 4th hole, the long par 3 8th hole, the 13th, 14th and 15th ‘lake’ holes, known locally as ‘amen’ corner, the 16th a long par 4 defended by bunkers from tee to green and finally the 18th, which is perfect for a grandstand finish in front of the Hotel.

Hazards include four lakes which come into play on 7 holes, waste bunkers throughout the course, fairway and greenside traps, drop off areas around the greens and extensive planted landscaped areas. However, the main defence of the course is the prevailing wind that picks up most afternoons.

All in all the Mar Menor is a great course, well maintained and perfectly suitable for all golfers.
