Saurines is an unusual golf course for the Murcia region. As a desert course it blends perfectly with the local arid landscape but many who play it think it has a definite links feel and we have to agree. The rolling fairways are frequently banked with tall dunes featuring long wispy grasses, and the greens are severely undulating and similar to many a links course. At times one could be forgiven for thinking you’re at the seaside!

Because it’s so different we love Saurines and we’d definitely recommend it for any golf holiday in Murcia. Although the golf course is quite short by modern standards it is very tricky and is by no means a walk in the park. You definitely have to earn a good score at Saurines and the key is driving the ball straight, putting the ball in the correct spot on the greens and getting to grips with sloppy greens.

Unbelievable for a links/desert type course Saurines has hardly any bunkers, but to be honest it doesn’t need them. With rolling fairways, wispy dunes, a couple of huge lakes and some of the most difficult greens in the area (with huge drop off area) it’s tough enough without them.

Although a challenging course Saurines is popular with golfers of all abilities and ideal for golf holidays.
